GOT A PLAN?
- FIRST, most people are unaware the Milky Way is vanishing from view.
- So, magnify awareness and focus on taking action.
- Please be pleasant and positive.
- Create a lightscape, a vision of your community under proper lighting.
- Then guide and lead residents in your town to make the VISION reality.
- Commit yourself to the challenge of a DARK SKY REVOLUTION.
- Get organized. Prepare, prepare, prepare, before you go out there.
- Get an overview of the lighting in your community. Make a light map.
- Design a strategy, a plan, a vision, to affect change in your community.
- Start slowly with lights that guarantee success, then move to more challenging lights.
A plan... trimmed, whittled, and pruned.
AWARENESS:
- Are the business lights and streetlights in your community SMART LIGHTS?
- SMART LIGHTS shine down on targets of safety & security (people / property).
- SMART LIGHTS do not shine up into the sky or out into your eyes.
- SMART LIGHTS do not shine in the eyes of law enforcement officers.
ACTION:
- Compliment and thank people / business owners who use SMART LIGHTS.
- Publicly award and reward business owners using SMART LIGHTS.
If EVERY person reading this sentence politely but firmly demanded all lights be SMART LIGHTS and persuaded 10 other people in their community to do likewise, the Milky Way would be liberated from wasteful light pollution.
At present, most night lights are NOT SMART LIGHTS. Most city officials and business people are unaware that light is wasteful. SMART LIGHTS are available for nearly every lighting situation.
If EVERY person reading this sentence politely informed and educated 10 business owners and city leaders in their community about SMART LIGHTS and convinced 10 other folks to do likewise, starlight would soon shine free and wild. Ask every person you encounter: Got Milky Way Light?
